President's Message

I hope that you and your pugs are doing great.   I know we are all tired of the brutal winter and we are all wishing spring will come soon. I know each and every one of our pugs have expressed enough already just by the look in their eyes..
Our pug specialty held at the Meadowlands was a great success.  Our  Show Chair, Jennifer Modica, did a marvelous job. I think all participants and their lovely pugs had a good time.  The entries of quality pugs was exceptional and made picking the winners for both the sweepstakes and the regular classes a very difficult decision for both judges.  I want to thank Robert Largey for his exceptional way with both the exhibitors and the pugs.  He made all the puppies  feel quite good about being in the ring.  It is very important that our young ones  want to be in the ring, having a good time.  Thank you to Karen Mills Heron for her professionalism in  giving each and every pug their due time. I know she was not given an easy task with the large number of striking pugs to choose from.  I also want to thank all the exhibitors who came to the show, supported us, drove long distances to be there.  We look forward to seeing everyone again.
Our Pug Picnic will be coming up May 21 and everyone who has come in the past has thoroughly enjoyed themselves.  There will be much going on as explained further on in the newsletter and helping Pug Rescue is ALWAYS a good thing to do. Again, I look forward to seeing you there.  If anyone cannot come and would like to send something pug or dog related  for the Chinese Auction to raise money for Rescue, please feel free to mail it to me.  Thank You

AKC Pug Standard

The Pug is well described by the phrase "multum in parvo" which means "a lot of dog in a small space." They are recognized for their even-tempers, playful personalities, and their outgoing, loving dispositions. This square and cobby breed comes in fawn, silver fawn, apricot fawn or black, with a well-defined "mask" on his muzzle. A popular companion dog, the pug also excels in the show ring.
